Singapore, 1 October 2009 – At an annual Awards Ceremony hosted by Frost & Sullivan, a business research and consulting firm, awards were presented to organizations in a variety of industries that have shown exemplary performance in growth, expansion, innovation and customer acquisition in the current economic climate. iWOW Connections, a local homegrown company which specializes in wireless communications solutions using a range of cutting edge technologies, was named the Industrial Wireless Emerging Company of the year.

iWOW Connections specializes in developing M2M (machine-to-machine) communication products and related services. Having developed the world’s first USB GPRS modem back in 2002, iWOW recognized the lack of solutions for wireless communications. Henceforth, iWOW has devised numerous solutions which aim at improving M2M communications. The latest range of GPRS/GSM modules and iTegno modems designed and manufactured by iWOW were deployed in a variety of applications worldwide.

Metering Solution
Metering vendors are the main adopters of iWOW’s GPRS/GSM modems due to its small and light form factor. Data can be transmitted back to the utility company remotely, eliminating the need for cabling and manual meter reading. This is especially helpful in countries where utility services span across vast areas. iWOW’s iTegno Modems were deployed to empower a electronic metering device for the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) in Thailand to read their electric meters remotely. The GSM/GPRS communication system enables continuous and reliable data transmission between the metering device and the central reporting system. This will allow customers to have real-time checks and retrieval of information from the meter whenever there is an enquiry. The new implementation will reduce the time lag in data collection, and help customers to streamline their business processes and system reporting. Customized applications were also developed for these companies to suit their business requirements.
