Buy and sell on the go with M1’s new mClassified service

SINGAPORE, 12 March 2007 - M1 has launched the mobile version of classified advertisements, a service that provides its customers a convenient platform to buy and sell using their mobile phones.

mClassified enables customers to post classified advertisements on MiWorld Mobile, M1’s mobile portal, anywhere and anytime. Supported by Clearhub, M1’s technology and mobile solution partner for mClassified, this service offers mobility, spontaneity, ease of use and convenience.

MClassified is the first mobile classified advertisement service that supports video and image upload. In addition to text descriptions, sellers can also take photographs or video clips of their merchandise, attach them to their advertisements and post them on mClassified instantly.

For M1 customers logging on to MiWorld Mobile to view the advertisements, mClassified is arranged for easy browsing with items broadly listed under the categories Mobile, Fashion, Gadgets, Lifestyle, Property, Vehicles and Others. Buyers can also set up real time SMS alerts and be notified whenever there are new classified postings that match their interests.

Commenting on the rationale for offering mClassified, M1’s Director of Consumer Marketing, Sharon Tan, said : "We believe there is demand for such a service, especially among youths. Our trendy young Singaporeans are often quick to change their mobile phones, music players and other fashion accessories to keep up with the times. Hence, there is potential for mClassified to become a virtual market place for this community to buy and sell their personal items and gadgets conveniently."

"We are also hoping to cater to some professional segments, such as car dealers and property agents, who could gain a competitive edge by including images and videos to enhance the appeal of their advertisements. The ability to snap and post instantly is also an added advantage for this group of highly mobile people," added Ms Tan.

Posting of advertisements is currently free for a limited period. Thereafter, a fee of S$1.00 per posting will be charged. The standard GPRS charges of $0.0105 will apply for browsing within MiWorld and mClassified. However, there are no data charges for uploading and downloading of images and videos. SMS alerts are chargeable at S$0.20 per SMS. The maximum validity of each classified posting is 14 days, and if not renewed, it will automatically be removed from the site.

Any M1 customer can access and view mClassified. However, those who wish to post advertisements or subscribe to the mClassifed SMS alerts will have to register as a MiWorld user first. They can log on to www.miworld.com.sg to register at no cost.
